Dr. Michael Maxwell

Principal of Maximized Education Consultants

Dr. Maxwell is the Principal of Maximized Education Consultants. His career of 30 plus years can be described as interesting, unconventional and dedicated to Early Learning. Living a philosophy centered on professional and personal growth, optimism, and preparedness, he shares a breadth of experience from a unique career progression. Michael’s education career has traversed public schools (district and charter), to municipal government, nonprofits and Head Start.

Notably, his career started as a Title 1 Pre-K teacher for the Clark County School District, with the majority of his teaching career in Early Childhood, including CCSD’s innovative Classroom on Wheels (COW) program, and he is believed to be the first African American man with a state issued license to teach Title 1 preschool in the state of Nevada. Most recently, as the Vice-President for Acelero Learning Head Start in Clark County, he led the organization's 15 sites, including 13 schools, headquarters and the main kitchen, and over 300 employees across the Las Vegas valley. As an education leader with the City of Las Vegas, Youth Development & Social Innovation department, Michael led the opening of three Strong Start Early Learning Academies and the city’s first Strong Start Go! Mobile Pre-K Academy. Leading a local non-profit, he was Executive Director responsible for services to aid thousands of families with access and affordability to early care and education across Southern Nevada.

Dr. Maxwell is the board President for the Nevada Association for the Education of Young Children (NevAEYC) and he also serves on the Nevada Commission on Mentoring. His BS, MS and Ed.D. were all earned from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He has been married to his wife Kim (also an educator) for 26 years and they have three terrific kids: Makayla, Malik and Marcus. He enjoys time with family, sports, reading and being outdoors.
